What is Anxiety?

Anxiety is one of the most common mental disorders within the United States. Anxiety is usually a response to stress in one's mind and body, and it is characterized as a fear of what is to come in the future.

What does an Anxiety attack look like?

If you're having an anxiety attack, you will most likely be experiencing the following symptoms: fast heart pace, chest pain, pale skin, and difficulty breathing.


Tips for Anxiety:

  • Whenever you begin to feel like you're losing control, or any anxiety symptoms, take a deep breath and try to relax. (One successful way to avoid hyperventilating is to close one of your nostrils and breathe in through only one nostril. Then breathe out through your mouth, and repeat the process while switching nostrils until you feel better)

  • Try to take control of your thoughts, and ask yourself if what your fearing is worth it. Try to overcome your fears by challenging them within your head.

  • Meditation can be very helpful, especially if it's incorporated into one's daily routine. This will make a huge difference in remaining calm during stressful situations, and help your brain overcome anxiety attacks more easily.

  • Another important method that one should add to their regular routine is exercise. Exercise is not only great for keeping the body healthy and in shape, but also the mind. When exercise becomes a major part of life, managing anxiety and other mental health issues becomes much easier to handle, and take control over.
